Need the brake Guru
My son and I have been working on his 6cyl 65 Coupe. New suspension front and rear, bearings and brakes. We have replaced all with new, reasonably priced, after market equipment. I am having trouble with new drums fitting over new shoes up front. Drums measure 9" id., shoes measure at 8 7/8". I can
work drums over shoes but after that there is no way to turn drum. After removing drum I can see where binding on shoes so I massage the shoe a bit with 80 grit. The adjusters are run up to limit and there is no fluid pressure on wheel cylinders. Shoes are aligned and leading and trailing shoes in right spot. Are the after market parts off enough that I may have to turn new drums? I had no problem with rear brakes which came from same supplier and were purchased at same time.
Any suggestions besides upgrade to discs?

I have been putting up with front drums for 10 yrs.Have finally ordered disc swap.I hate the drums.Front drums have to be manually adjusted every so often. You'll know when its time when your back brakes start locking up first.Handy in the rain on the freeway. If you back out of the driveway and turn the wheel sharp while braking hard, one wheel will/may adjust itself tighter than the other. Also fun with no power steering,on the freeway. There are kits that dont require a spindle change.Thats what Im doing.
