can I verify 66 numbers match
Yeah, I know what they look like. I went out to my 65 to look for some and I have absolutely none, I also discovered that the intake I have on it now is from a 66 289. Stamped right there on top of the intake is C6OE
ORIGINAL: 289FB
Soaring, that is a good question, I think that the answer is the laziness or lack of knowledge on part of the repair person, such as a body shop that throw away a door with the vin # plate or replacing a inner ferder with out cutting the part of stamped ID numbers, a replacement/ repair of the rigth fender and not replacing the ID tag that is hold by a screw, on engine heads work the tag engine is most of the times is gone for ever, repair of steering box, but the most commun is the the lost of carburator tag if any work is needed. Tecnicians are concern with finish the job and proper repair but only if the have any knowlwdge about classic cars or they are also in the hoby they don't realize that those simple tags can tell the history of our cars.

Back then very few were interested in the collectability of the cars. Which leads me to a story!! In Charleston a friend raced a Camaro in 'G-Gas'....287 cid full-on 13,000 rpm engine. Now if you were to cut-up into a drag car one 1968 Camaro....which one would be the most valuable-in-the-future to destroy?
I won't keep you 'non-chevy' types too long on this...1968, X-RAM, dual 4-barrel, chambered exhaust RS-Z/28!!!!!!! Raced under the name "LITTLE-HERO"
