bring the motor to TDC on the number one cylinder. remove the bolt anc hold down under the distributor. after that it should pull out. as for the timing chain remove the bolts holding the gear on and pull the gear off.

the distributor will not come out unless the motor is at TDC and the bolt is right under the dist. nolding the shaft in.

Are you sure about that? I'm almost positive that the distributor can be put in or taken out in any position, ergo, you can get a distributor mistimed.

.

+1 it will come out anywhere u try to pull it from. the bolt is 1/2"

for the timing chain removal ull need a pluuer they loan them at autozone(just have to leave a deposit) ull need to remove the harmonic balancer, waterpump, timing cover,on the cover is off the timing set will be exposed theres a bolt holding the fuel pump ecentric on remove it then pull the gears from the motor

The dizzy can be removed when the engine is any direction. Sometimes, the oil pump shaft will have jammed in the bottom, making it very difficult to remove. This is also another reason to use a good aftermarket oil pump shaft...
