Doing it myself right now. Estimate I'll spend about $1,500.00 in sheet metal. That doesn't include labor.

Well so far its $3000 for sheetmetal on the Mustang, and for the Cougar around $1800 for primer, sealer, filler, and all the stuff needed to work that like air sanders, sandpaper, hoses, and misc stuff. The compressor was around $1000 but it gets used for alot of things that arent always body work.

What it will cost you depends on what you have already, like tools, how skilled you are at doing it, and how rough the car is.

Grimms fastback and mine are more along the lines of resurecting a parts car than a typical paint job. So ours will be more expensive and labor intensive. At least I got a good roof, and only slightly rusted door jambs with my steering column..

Figure the average DIY job already posessing the tools needed and using quality yet inexepensive materials will run you around $1500-$3000 depending on how much the paint costs, because some colors and types are alot more than others.

I am using NASON stuff for the most part.

My car had minimum rust. There was a spot on the lower front corner of each door, and the rear quarter panels. The car was stripped. The doors, hood and trunk lid were removed and the entire car sand blasted. Then new metal was welded in, new headliner, new weather stripping for the whole car and a new front windshield, and the paint job.....all for just right at $5,000.00 That was 10 years ago, so maybe 7 thousand today.

i have about 700 in metal, and did all the work myself.....so i would try to do it yourself, try on some thing you think is easy and it jsut might be! o- will probably have a total of like 1100 in materials (metal, fillers, primer, sealer, and paint) but if you have shops do it, it will be at least 2500.00
