Did I just make the problem worst?
haven't driven my 1967 mustang in two weeks. After warming up the car I began to turn the wheel and it was back to "NO" power steering. I knew I had a leak but always thought it was a small oil leak. I checked the power steering and it was empty. I had no other car available and decided to drive the car 4 miles with about 12-15 turns. I filled the revoir up and checked and everything was back to normal! I then parked at a store and saw a trail F#%$ck
It was leaking the whole way! So what can I expect as the worst case scenario and what can I expect at the least? I'm leaving and don't get back after the weekend so I won't have time to investigated. Thanks

I'd say worst case, you'll have to replace the pump. More likely (like superman said) you popped a hose. Hoses aren't that expensive, and not really that difficult to replace. Just do your best to keep them as far away from the exhaust as possible. The heat can bake and make them brittle. Good luck!
Usually, when the pump goes it either locks up or squeals like a stuck hog. Either a hose has popped, or a gasket. Clean up the area real good with some carburetor cleaner, fill up the reservoir and have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you observe where the leak is coming from.
i know EXACTLY what you mean. i hadnt driven my car forl ike a weekand when i was backing out of my driveway, i turned the wheel and then heard a hose explode and a bunch of smoke come out from under the hood because the power steering fluid sprayed all over my headers. now there is a hugesteering fluidtrail and puddle left on our driveway and street.. haha. i picked up two new hoses for 6.95 each at Allied Auto Parts.
Hey guys,
So the cars leaks and when I was driving at 5 mph and turning to park it makes a horrible noise! On another forum he stated I would have messed up the campack in the pump. Does that sound right? But back to the noise.... Its sounds horrible! When I first filled up the revoir the pump made a whinning sound but went away. As it created a leak trail then finally came to turning out the horrible sounds got worst. If I replaced the hoses would it be back to normal. Or did I make thing worst, perhaps having to replace the pump? Thanks
