Default upgrade to a Dual exhaust

I have a stock 289 in my coupe and I am looking to add a dual exhaust for the sound. I listened to the clips from Mojoe and Kalli's rides, would coming off the stock manifold give me that rumble? Which would be better the 40 or 50 flowmaster series? Delta? (any other suggestions?) It seems the 40 is more popular, not sure if they are louder or better tone for the classics? thanks

40's will sound okay off of stock manifolds, but headers add a deeper tinny-er tone to the exhaust sound. 50 series are way too quiet (and big) in my opinion.

40 series flows are pretty much benchmark for most all classics. Can't beat the sound.

just get some 40s and when you can upgrade to headers. I'm running flowsounds now (same design as flowmaster 40s) off stock manifolds and they sound great! Can't wait till I get headers!

I'm not even sure 50's will fit on our cars. Does anybody know for sure?

Wait till you can buy headers for the car and go with the 40 Series Flowmaster. These guys are right on with their suggestions. Save your money and do it right the first time. If you go for the instant gratification, it will end up costing you more in the long run.

YGWYPF, but summit sells some that aren't TOO pricey, and hedman has some good ones too.
