Default Nuts & Bolts - Sweating the Small Stuff

My shop replaced all my engine bay bolts. The original 66 had washers that were splayed (youcan see1 example inthepix - below the 3 bolts) My new one are of a slightly difffernet design and the washers are NOT splayed outward.

Dose my new design bother you or should I insist on going back to the original design, or just forget it.

I know the is small stuff, but I can't help paying a lot of attention to detail. What do you think?

Those splayed ones like the one on the fender apron there dig into the paint. It doesn't bother me what bolts you use. If you're going to be MCA judged then it might be an issue.

well with that super charger and other things I doubt he's getting it judged as for concours quality. I think your bolts look fine. If they are shiny and not ugly then they're good in my book. Little things like the those types of bolts are what set off the engine compartment in my opinion.

I have two different size bolts hoding my fuel pump on among other things. I'm happy when it runs and as for matching forget about it. Too much was stripped for no good reason. That's what you get when the previous owner was a "machanic"

I replacedmost of the bolts that are accessible last winter (tunk, engine compartment, doors, interior). The previous owner used everythingfrom hardware bolts from Lowes. I bought new "correct"bolts and fittings from AMK. They do concours bolts for GM andMopar as well. They have the correct finishes from phosphate oil to all of the correct markings. I am going for more of an original restoration, so this was a simple solution. They also have crrect radiator tags, alternators w/correct decal markings, radiator caps, alternator pulleys/fans etc. For concours restorations these guys take out a lot of the frustration but you pay for it.
