Default rebuiding carb

i just bought the kit to rebuild my autolite 2100today. im still a little scared to start though but too many people have told me the pros of doing it and there arent many cons so wat the heck. ive also heard that a 2100 is a easy carb to learn on.

i would really appreciate any tips or things you encountered when doing yours. and about the carb cleaner. how long should i leave my parts to soak in it? ive read leave it for an hour, and ive read leave it over night. and if you have any sites that have diagrams that would help. or any guides of any sort.

well basically any info on rebulding a carb would help

just follow the direction and the can and a firm tooth brush is a great way to get cake on deposits off of the carb

and yes the 2v carb is very easy to do

Just have a clean workspace and lay each part out in the order you took it off. Clean each part, then just install the parts in reverse order.

There's a schematic that comes with the kit. Just look at it as you replace the parts. The best advice I can give ya is do it all in one sitting. Don't put off the rebuild after you get it apart.

The most important thing in rebuilding a carb is cleaning. If cleaned properly, the Carb is as good as new.

Don't sweat it, just jump in it and get going!

Here is some info that may be of help. I usually soak all the parts over night.

My tips would be:

[1] Take your time.
[2] Go to CVS and buy a box of latex gloves. Use them.
[3] Take LOTS of pictures with your digital camera as you are disassembling. Mine saved me a headache when I couldn't remember exactly how to rebuild the choke linkage.
[4] Put all parts from the same area of the carb in a zip lock. (i.e. all bowl parts in one, all choke parts in another, etc)
[5] Save ALL the old parts (and even the extras in the rebuild kit) until you have the carb running good. Don't simply throw them away once you believe you have it back together correctly and installed on the car.
[6]Once its apart, really study what goes on inside the carb. This is a great opportunity to learn.

Good luck.
