Thanks everyone, it's a bit clearer now. Eventually I will change to Petronix, but as I am new to the game, I would first like to discover the ancient way of living, in order to better understand what is going on under the hood.

That will take the fun out of learning to solve the problem, it only avoid's the problem. Once I learn how to time the ignition the old fashioned way, I'll install a Petronix.

wouldn't it be faster to install a pertronix? you know 4 out of 3 people have trouble with fractions.

i'd try to get away from any problem cause with old cars you'll run into a bunch more!!! Get an msd set up if money allows it...
