Ha! some of you guys couldn't help yourselves on the performance mods.... This will just be a daily driver, and probably will be my wife that drives it mostly ( it is her car, after all...) so I don't think she'll be too much into racing anyone....

But, the safety mods are definitely important, and those will be included for sure. On the column swap, what is the preferred column to use?

We used a kit from Flaming River, but we changed to rack and pinion steering as well. You should have plenty of stock choices available on Mustangs Unlimited, Ididit, Etc......

Theswap was easy, with the only difficult (just a little) issue being the wiring of the conversion plug for the column wiring.

You can get a colapsable column with tilt from Ididit, that should be a bolt in.

I don't think I've ever done a mod without slanting it toward squeezing just a little more performance of some sort out of the car. Not that every car has to be a race car, but it's nice to have a little extra "sparkle" in the way a car drives to make you feel good about the work that you put into it. Even the '66 that wasmy daughter's first car - I did put quite a bit of work intoit - was worked over with this philosophy very much in mind.

BTW, don't underestimate the wife when it comes to occasionally driving with enthusiasm - a friend of my son's hasa somewhat embarassing memory that he'll probably never be allowed to forget.
