I'm converting my standard seats to the TMI sport seats in my 66.

The special foam that comeswith these seats hasthelisting wire (think that is howto spell it)built into the foam. I know that I am supposed to attach the upholstery to the wire in the foam.

My question is ....am I supposed to hog ring the wire in the seat foam to the seat frame first? Seems like it will be very hard to get a hog ring around the wire in the foam, through the foam and around the listing wire on the frame. Or do I just hog ring the upholstery to the foam, place the foam on the frame and then hog ring uphostery to the frame?

On the original seats I think the foam was hog ringed to the frame, just wondering if this is necessary and how other people have done this.

where did you guys buy your uhpolstry? ive looked at TMI's site and their msrp for the whole set up is like $350 but they dont sell direct and i cant seem to find the upgrade for less than $600...

$600 at mustang depot...or mustang plus,I can't remember.

Mustangs Plus has a kit that includes the covers, foam, and headrests for 600. I have not found a kit at anyother place. It costs about $700 when you buy theitems separately.

Yes, you must attach the listing wire to the seat frame. If you don't you will not get theindentations needed for the seat to look correct. I found it easier to have my wife use the hog ring plier while I compressed the foam and stretched the fabric. In other words, for us amateurs 2 people make the job easier.
I bought my covers, buns etc from CJ Pony Parts in Pennsylvania. They fit very well and turned out terrific.
