Default Power Steering

I am new to this forum and modifying a Mustang. I have power steering on it now, eventually I want to go rack and pinion.

Whats a good way to go till then? I have seen the manual conversion adaptors.

I take it you want to go to manual steering for now? The adaptors are expensive and I have heard mixed reviews of them. I actually just went through the same process switching from PS to manual. I bought what I needed on ebay for under $50 (used idler arm, centerlink and tie rods, new pittman arm), and thats including shipping. You will need a manual idler arm, centerlink, and pittman arm. Depending on what ratio steering box you have you may need a manual steering box.

My car was originally manual steering so that is the main reason why I am changing it. Plus, I really do not care for the numb power steering feel the Mustangs have. With manual steering the thing doesnt feel like a wandering bull.

In response to Superman, I think this sums it up. Ive heard that power steering in the classics often oversteers and that manual has better has better road control. Plus, it frees up alittle weight of that heavy nose.
