Default 66 coupe

stumbled across a original 66 coupe 289 today. Faded original paint. orig. carpet/seats with some wear/damage. Orig running 289. rocker-panels, door stops/hinges perfect. Some paint flaking off roof. rear dash cover missing. Minor rust on lower corner of pass. door and driver-side rear qtr jsut above wheel. Owner is asking $4000. Is this average , good deal or rip-off?

How bad do you want it? It sounds like a ok deal to me. Look around some more and see what is out there. That is the best test. You need to know the market.

That's about average for a coupe. The rust around the doors and quarters will need to be fixed, a paint job and an interior replaced. Look to spend 6 or 7 thousand for that. Then you have a nice looking 66 coupe now worth 11-12K.

In my part of the country, that's not too bad(assuming rust isn't anywhere else.
