Default No junk in this trunk

The detailing of the trunk is underway. The originaltank has been handsanded (to get rid of surface rust) and clear coated, the screws are to be replaced, the sides and inner wells repainted, the fuel pipe and latch are beingpainted to factory new conditon.

Of course most of thiswill be covered by the mat, the spare tire, amp, etc. but Iknow the enitre car - front bumper to bumper - will be in pristine condition. If only some day it will be finsihed so I can drive it!

Very nice! Will you be putting in any stereo gear back there? If so, where and how? By the way, what is that black tank?Ihaven't seen it before.

No stereo equipment at all in the trunk. Im not having an antena on the car either, and probably not a stereo unless I hide it...The only thing I hope to have in the trunk is my battery relocation box.

Ive been asked before about my tank. Its just a normal tank painted black. Been told it looks like plastic though..

I just did mine again last summer and used "Rust Away" then Painted it black. I pulled up the mat a few days ago, and she is still rust free. You just have to keep checking on the rust there. Yours looks very nice and clean.

I think Ive seen the rust away stuff at a local parts store. I was considering it becuase its much cheaper and my car isnt a rust bucket anyways. Did you do the whole trunk?

Why is the gas tank prone to rust? Is this a problem because of the Mustang's trunk design or fumes from the gas?

I think everything is prone to rusting on the Mustang. The tank is easy to replace though...
