Default Emergency Hazards posessed

I will try to explain this best I can. I put in a new turn signal switch (the whole unit) because the old one didn't engage the right turn signal or hazards. The new one has fixed the right turn signal problem but the hazards act weird. When I put the hazards on nothing happens. However, when I push on the brakes, all four light up but don't blink. OYE! I read where some people say the hazards have their own flasher seperate form the turn signal flasher. I have stared under that dash for what seams like hours and I can't find any wiring for a secong flasher.Any idea's? It is a 68 coupe. Thanks, Scott

I dont know about the 68 but my 70 does have a seperate flasher for the hazzards and turn signals. one of mine was between the radio bezel and the gauges.the other one was on the other side of the radio between the radio and glove box.
hope this helps

Iwill look again. Thanks. Can anyone with a 68 check to see if they have a second flasher? Thanks.

OK, time to bring my thread back to the top. Sorryfor budging.[:'(] Ihad a thought. (yes there is smoke coming out of my ears) Are there differen't types of flashers. Like a 2way flasher that handles both signal lights and turn signals and single flasher that only handle one? You can begin the pointing and laughing now but only if you respond. [sm=laughat.gif]

Yes, there are two seperate flashers...one for the turn signals and one for the hazzards. So you turn indicators make not work but your hazzards will and vise verse. The orignals are different P/N but the replacements work in both. Now as for location....one you can see from under the dash but the other is buried pretty far up under the dash and I had to remove the instrument panel to replace it (the oringal is blue in color and attached to sheet metal with a tyrap)..

As far as touching the brakes and having your turn indictors come on it sounds like a wiring mistake when you replaced your turn indicator switch ( I assume you mean the one in the steering wheel).

Hope this helps,
