Get a job bro. I've been working since I was 15. I'm 19 now and in college, and still working about 30 hours a week. I've paid for my 67 coupe and every penny of everything I've put on it, including the 3 motors I've gone through. The only parts my parents bought was a Painless wiring kit for me when it caught on fire and they felt sorry for me. Get a part time job. Look at resturaunts, apply as a host if you can be friendly and wear a nice shirt. It will pay better than anything else when you turn 18 and can serve you will make BIG bucks. Im a server at Chilis and thepay is great and I can transfer to any other Chilis in the US with just a phone call. Most resturaunts hire alotta young people and are flexible with school schedules, and you can always work more in the summer.

Try this or this as a start... Not the highest performance, but will get you an engine that will last through high school at least...probably college if you take care of the maintenance.

He's right. I have a friend that buses tables at Red Robin and he makes a load in tips, even though he does make minimum wage.

Its not hard to find a job that pays good. You just have to be willing to make the sacrifice to kill all your free time. Thats what it boils down to... but classics take money....

Well, you aren't going to buy all that stuff for that little amount of money. Get a job after school. I worked every day as a soda jerk after school and on the weekends to pay for my 51 Chevy.

that valve job and grinding the crank will be most of your money right there. It cost roughly 2000 bucks to rebuild my 351 by a shop, that includes boring, new pistons and all those goodies, bearings, timing cover (old one was bad), oil pump, new valves where needed, new rockers, new cam, pretty much everything. So all I can say is good leak sean, and u can definitely do it.

These cars are a money pit you will discover, wait till u get to ur paint job and have to get the body work done and there will be problems hidden under that paint that u never new existed! My dad and I are discovering how much money it takes for these cars now, sure adds up.

I am currently 18 and got my first mustang at 16. I feel your pain on the money issue. But the one thing that many highschoolers say that isnt true is that theycant get a job. ANY highschooler can get a job. Even with sports and getting good grades. I got a job at 15 and I played soccer all year around and I worked 20 hours a week andI make straight A's in school. If you put your mind to it you can do anything. Dont worry bout the car for now. Go out and get a job. Make some money. Then do the rebuild right. If you do a shotty job now you'll regret it later.

Unfortunately, reality is ALWAYS there waiting to kick you in the "nutts"....but, as mentioned I think your only choice is to get a job if you want to make the money. I know it's not helpful, but it doesn't get any better. The toys get bigger, and so do the bills..

At 15, you could still probably find a job doing something. If all else fails, try and mow a few lawns- summer is coming. All depends on how much you want to make money. The opportunities are out there. Good luck, and be happy that you already have a 68 Mustang.

Going to school and working isn't all that bad. I go to school mon-fri. I get out at 3:30. I goto work at 4:30 and i work to 9:30. I work 30-35 hours a week at $8 an hour. I usually bring home $450 on my check after stupid taxes. I mean its hard to do it for awhile, but you can get the hang of it. Get you a workers permit, and start working.
