Default guys, i dont know if i can do this...

hey guys,

i need some major inspiration, i just got kicked in the nutts by reality and i dont think im going to be able to rebuild my engine and get my car running again with the money i have, i only have $550. The only thing that might save me is my birthday is in April, and i usually get $200ish, and ill be turning 16, so maybe i might get a little bit more then that.

the things i need for my engine are:

Timing gears
Cam bearings
Rod bearings
Main bearings
Cam
Lifters
Transmission mount
Oil Pump
Water pump
Motor mounts
Fuel pump
Gasket set
Piston Rings
Bore cylinders
Pistons
Head valve job
Re-grind crank
All new hoses
Maybe distributer
Then all the odds and ends that i am not aware of right now that will cost me money....

guys, for the first time in a long time, im scared, I dont know what im going to do...

are you looking to go "new" with everything? Try going to a swapmeet for some used stuff, or even new, just lower price. what are you going to do? How about a job!? Just find something temporary in the paper and make some $$ enough to fix your car, then youll like paychecks so much u wont wanna stop working! -Jon

Get a job and save your money. You dont need a new engine NOW, so wait a few months until you get a few grand to build.

That was my problem, I wasn't able to work very many hours because of school, baseball, friends, family and of course the mustang(not neccassarily in that order). So I quit and got a job at a detailing center where I can work a few nights and a couple hours on the weekends. Good luck!

Look for a master overhaul kit that has a lot of that stuff as a kit. Also, you can ask for those items for your B-day. There is no rush, take your time even if you have to get a job and save. You may even find a fresh engine with low miles for under $800.

Well 15 that is rough, Well If you can wait till you are out of school the best advice I can give you to make some fast cash over the summer is work for a moving company. It is hard work you would be putting down about 50 to 80 hours a week. Like I said it is hard work but it will definately give you what you need.

Whoa is me. Wish I had a 1968 Mustang when I was 15. Man, thats tough. There was a time when everything we did to our cars was with bicep powered tools and found parts. Count your blessings and realize that you are about to turn 16 and have a classic car in your driveway. These are the times you learn to adapt and make do. Lessons learned now will pay dividends later in life.
