Default Hail :(

So after spending some time doing body work on my hood i realized that it has some extensive hail damage. Now im pretty knew to body work and I can do bondo and some basic welding. I'm trying to decide what to do. I could go ahead and bondo all the tiny dents or i could buy a new hood. The only problem is is that i dont want to spend 200 or 300 on a hood. If i could find a decent used hood for around 50 to 100 dollars i would go with taht. Any suggestions are welcome. If someone has an old 69 hood laying around that they need taken off thier hands let me know.

Thanks
Eric

Ohhh.... One more thing. Is there something I could spray on then sand off that would fill in the dents. The dents arent very deep, I didnt even see them unitl I started to paint the hood.

Well i would say if they really are not too deep when you spray your first couple layers of primer it might fill them in.

When visiting some relatives in Kansas, I saw several cars with major hail damage. I was told that it happened all the time. Usually the cars are totalled by the insurance company and then bought back by the owner. If your damage is very minor a good primer might fill it in, but since you are painting it black it is going to be really hard to cover up. Good luck!

ya you might be able to fill with primer...im thinking some kind of finishing glaze would be best. something that would go on really thin and smooth that you could take a longboard to and just sand for a while till it was all flat. im thinking bondo would kind of be a PITA if you had to do a bunch of tiny dings. and id be really interested to see how your paint turns out
