You can get a rebuild kit for both much cheaper than the part. I rebuilt both of mine and it was very easy.

I checked with Texas Mustang, and the PS control valve is 79.95 and the Power Slave Cylinder is 169.95. Sorry bud, but if you go to the dance, you have to pay the fiddler.

Is that for a rebuild kit or a new/rebuilt control valve? The 65/66 has a control vavle integrated into the drag link so it is a lot more spendy than the 67+ one. Yes, rebuilding them is not difficult.

That's for a new/rebuilt control valve I presume because there is a core charge which leads me to believe it is rebuilt.

I just looked at their website and that is for a rebuild unit with rebuildable core. Essentially, subtracting the cost of parts, You're paying $68 for labor to rebuild it. That's not too shabby actually. Without a core, these things for 65/66 are usually in the $400+ range.

[edit] The valve cannot be removed from 65/66 model as it is integrated into the draglink. You are correct that they rebuild the valve and ask for your old one in return.

I got a rebuild / seal kit from NPD on my ram and valve. I think maybe $40 for both...not sure. Easily done and you can learn something while doing it. The cv has a ballend rebuild kit that you can get or just do like I did and get the whole rebuild kit, just seals, gaskets and a new ballend. The ram is just seals, scraper and a retaining ring it think, it has been a few years, but it has stood the test of time so far. Oh, don't forget to keep track of your cylinder hoses. Veryimportant. Or it will feel like your steering wheel is about to rip your arms off.

Good point!! Never start up the vehicle for the first time with your arm between the wheel if you've done any hose changing with the power steering system. It is a good way to break your arm if you get the hoses reversed.
