Default Master Cylinder

I'm changing out a single bowl m.c. on a 66. I'm replacing it with a 74 Maverick dual bowl. [disc up front, drums in back] My question is I can't get the push rod out of the old m.c. Is there a clip or ? on the end of the push rod? Also I was told to use the old push rod since the 74 is too long? Thanks

IIRC there is a clip on the very end of the rod. I think I had to use a hacksaw and cut through something to get my old rod out. That was a few years ago so my memory is a lil foggy.

Some have clips and some don't (or are missing). If you haven't already done so, remove the rubber boot so you can get a good look at the clip. I "think" you can put the rod in a vice and give the base of the old MC a smack to knock it out.

BTW, you are correct to reuse the stock rod.
