unkown carb tube...
i'm running an autolite 2100 2bbl without this tube.
The automatic choke still works. I just guess it'll kick in slower than when you have the tube.
problem is just that I'm afraid to suck dirt into my carb leaving the thing open.
I tried as well to just block the thing and readjust mixture afterwards to lean (car will be running fatter if you block it)
the engine is getting warm enough to get the bi-metal in the springhousing to react.
I just guess far more slow than if you have the heat from the exhaust coming in there.
Any other ideas on when you have headers ?
(manual choke is no option for me. too lazy and I'm not going to run wires through firewall)

would love a picture to what Soaring posted:

just to see how it works.

Kalli-
You really shouldn't have to run wires through the firewall for an electric choke. I just probed around until I found a switched 12 volt source already in the engine compartment. I had a couple of extra wires (unused plug for something) coming from the regulator and one of them was perfect. I'll get the color when I get home if you would like.
Also... here is a picture of an aftermarket choke stove kit.

I just ordered whatever it is that Soaring posted. I will post pics of what it looks like when it comes in the mail. Probably not too far off from the Mr Gasket one.Looking at Mr Gaskets it looks like you just clamp the tube to the headerwiththe far end closed off and heat flows up it. We'll see soon enough.
Yeah, I have the stock manifolds. I will take a look into ordering a replacement kit. Thanks a lot for the info! I wasn't sure what to search for before since I didn't know what it was called. Should the choke housing be cleaned out when I replace the stove? I'm not 100% sure sititng here, but I think the steel tube with teh rubber tube on the end is still attached at teh manifold. I've removed the rubber tube and the pipe still sits there so at least it's not free floating in air like the stove pipe is.
My 2100 has a hose clip attached so that the hot water running through the heater heats up the choke mechanism. Of course, that wold only work if you have the heater on.

my hooker headers have a spot for you to put the tube from the choke. I have since changed carbs and my new one came with a manual choke so i don't use it anymore. It worked fine when i was using it.

I looked again, and it seems the pipe that goes to teh opening on the top of the manifold still slips right into it so I might leave it like that for now. The pipe that comes from the bottom of the manifold is still intact. I kinda like that chose clip next to the choke housing!
