Default Trunk lock cylinder $$$$$ ???

Took off the trunk lock cylinder on the 66 to replace the outer sleeve chrome and butchered the "locking pin" on the cylinder. When I place the cylinder back in the new sleeve the pin doesnt engage and wants to slide back out. I figured I would just get a new cylinder and checked the NPD and CJ catalogs for prices....

...why would it cost $40-60 for a 66 cylinder when the 67+ runs about $12??

I am going to try and rig something up and reuse the cylinder, does anybody have any ideas??

thanks
