Default Engine Mounts

I went to buy new engine mounts for my 1967 mustang with a 289. The brand name was Federated Auto parts. after hours and hours of trying to install the new Mounts i gave up! the mounts wouldn't match by a few milimimters but enough for not letting the bolt to get in. I have my engine just sitting on the mounts and they are not attached to the frame, does anyone know what brand of Mounts would fit my car?

thanks

First of all, the driver's and the passenger side mounts are different. Make sure you are using the right one on the correct side. Also, the 67's had an early and a late style motor mount for the 289's. Your best bet would be to get the build date off the data plate on your door, then call a mustang vendor and order the correct ones for your car.

Pretty sure that the mounts for 66 and up are the same for both sides with the 65's being different for each side.

We ordered these from Mustangs Unlimited:

I have them in my garage, they look like a quality product. I have test fit the brackets to their respective parts and the fit is perfect, but like I said, I have not installed them yet so I cant comment on the final fit, although it looks like a simple and easy process, that allows for a little adjustability.

We picked some up from autozone for a 67 with a 302 (same block) no problems.

I can respect your point of view. We purchased this kit because we didn't have any brackets to start with whatsoever. When we started figuring the price for the entire mount system, combined with the aggrivation of aquiring some of the parts used we decided to go with this setup. It is a lot cleaner than the stock setup, and considering that we will be puting out about 500 HP, I thought they were a good investment.

The "vibration factor" does not concern me much, what vibration we get we will live with, but I don't think it will be that bad, the engine is ballanced.

I am wanting to say that these were priced at about $160.00 when my son bought these mounts, I think the price may have gone up since,I am not entirely sure about this, but I am pretty sure.
