Default t-5 swap update....

Yeah so the tranny's in and the shifter is on. Took a bit of convincing to get the shifter on though. Had a hard time getting the last bolt torqued down but I got it. Also had to cut the floor pan a bit to get the shifter into position. Not too bad though with a dremel and cut-off wheels. All in all I think it went well. Now all I have left is to shorten the driveshaft and then fill her up and wait till may when i get my insurance back.

Damn, that's a pretty 65. Clean as a pin head. Let us know when you finally get the driveshaft in and get her on the road. I bet it will be a really fun experience to have 5 forwards.

Did you do most of the work yourself? How difficult was it?

Where did you get the trans (how much)

When its all said and done how much did it cost you?

Im really considering a T-5 Swap myself.

It's just a stock C code 289 with some modifications that were made to it by the previous owners. I actually was just planning on replacing the clutch and when I had the tranny out, i found an ebay auction for the new transmission. The guy had no reserve and it was a complete rebuild. The group that did the work charges like 1300 for em so I figured it was worth a shot. Let me tell you the tranny was well worth the 455 I ended up spending on it. Plus the guy selling it was local to me so I didn't have to pay for shipping. Just drove out and picked it up. I think after it was all said and done I paid like 1200 for everything (clutch, tranny, crossmember, adapter plate, resurfacing of my flywheel, new shifterand the shortening of the driveshaft. oh yeah and I did most of the work myself. My neighbor hepled me with the heavy lifting and NAPA did my flywheel.

Actually the car isn't that clean. It photographs really well but the paint is not really that good. That's actually on my list in the next couple years. I know a guy that had his mustang done 20 years ago at this shop and it still looks fantastic. He gave me their number so I may look into it if they are still around in a few years.

Anybody know what type of speedo gear I should get? I have 3.80 rear end and 235/60R15 tires in the rear. Thanks guys.
