yah, but there's pointless distributors like a HEI on ebau for 60quid, there's pertronix for 280$ and there are MSDs who alwyas need their own box.
So is it really worth it to buy a pertronix, or just but a HEI for 60$ with a pertronix coil for another 40$. i don't really know hwere the difference is

Correction, the MSDs don't always need their own box. You can run it with the Duraspark II box (why you would spend the money on the dizzy and not the box, I don't know). Also, they sell a ready to run unit which requires no external box.ORIGINAL: kalli

To the original poster, you install the Pertronix ignition in your factory distributor. If you're on a budget, want to keep it classic looking or don't have the performance need of multiple spark like MSD, go that route.
I ♥ Acer
get a ds2 dizzy if your not looking for all out performance and you can run it on either a ds2 box or any cd box plus you can get replacement parts at any parts warehouse

If you have the money, go with the MSD. You won't regret it, thats what I had on my old 289. I cut some corners on the 408, but I'm back in the market for a better ignition setup after I finish this rear end swap.
RE: What kind of distributor would you recommend?
Sounds like you have an almost stock engine, why not just stick with a stock distributor? The 70 dollar pertronix module works just fine and dandy on a stock dzzy.

I ended up going with a HEI, and the only problem i had was the size of it. Right infront caused clearance issues w/ the air filter because its so large -Jon
