Default Carb. advice

Need some advice please. I have 302 engine with an edelbrock performance intake on it. Im looking for a Carb for it. ive been told by a local store to put nothing bigger than a 500cfm in it. But ive been told that a 600cfm is the way to go. Any recommendations??? thanks

If you want to go with a vacuum secondary a Holley 600 works great on a stock engine. I run a 750 cfm on my 302 but it isn't stock and I have a low axle ratio.

You will get a lot of replies about hollies and such, but those are aftermarket carbs. Why not just put the original 4100 Autolite carb on there an call it a day?

That is another question i guess. Ive heard edelbrock is less maintance than a holley, but holley is more performance. As you can tell im new to the carb. thing. I mainly know EFI

For a mild street engine, I'd go with a Holley with vacuum secondaries, either the Street Avenger 570 cfmfor $366 or a Holley 4160 600 cfm for $300. If you go to Holleys website, they have an interactive carb selector which will help you figure out what model will suit you best.

holley 4150 or aspeed demon...which edelbrock intake do you have? Is is a performer or performaer rpm? If it is a stock replacement performer intake than go with the holley 4150 (600cfm) vacuum secondaries...

While I like Holleys and have no issues with Edelbrocks, if you can find an Autolite 4100 cheaper I would go for the Autolite.
It's just a solid carb. Stick with the cfm recommendations (500-600).
