What 6.5 are you talking about? The differential? Ford never has used a 6.5 differential in a Mustang. You have a 7.5 rear end in your Mustang if it is a 6 banger, and a 302 will shred it to pieces if you get on the 302 at all. You will need no less than an 8" open rear, but should get a 9 inch with either a locker or posi-trac if you heat up that 302 and add a T5 tranny.

sorry i was on the phone while typing and stuff, im meant a 6.5 rear end, and you said an eight inch, what should it be from? whatt other car i mean?
If your not familar with what all you need, I would recomend a "parts car" there are countless little things and chasing them all down especially when you don't know what you need can be discouraging. ebay is a good source too but be prepared to pay a bit for mustang parts. My salvage yards don't have older cars but if you do find one, falcon's, cougars, fairlanes, torino's, comets, maverick's, and greneda's are good source for the conversion parts. If you are not on a budget, Mustangs Plus has just about everything you would need new.
Good luck.
