Stubborn - DOOR LOCKS for 1966
My door locks don't seem to want to lock. the mechanism moves but what appears to be not enough! key lock moves but stresses when it comes to locking. I have the panel off an it is almost like it is stopping on something.. Is this a common thing??? And has anyone had luck resolving this?? SOOOO FRUSTRATING!
I've tried those too!! If you have seen the latch/lock mechanism.... the cut out areas where ythe pawl bushing goes (slides on) does nott seem to be engaging properly. Is there any adjustment that can be done on the locks!?? [align=right]

The same thing happens with my locks. I can lock them with the key, but if I try to lock them but pushing th **** down and then close the door they come unlocked again. I probaly just have to buy a new locking mechanism.
It is my understanding that Ford designed the locks like that so that you wouldn't lock your keys in the car. Your doors must be shut before you can lock them from the inside or outside. When I have a passenger I have to wait until they are out of the car and shut the door to lock that door then I have to used the key on my door.
I'm not sure about other years, but in my 1969, I can lock the drivers side door by pushing down the lock and then hold the exterior door button in while closing the door and it stays locked.
