Next problem... I'm trying to adjust my timing but the distributor won't turn or budge. I tried tapping it with a hammer but I don't want to do any damage. Howshould I get this thing to move? Thanks. Yes, clamp is loose enough. Actually I took it off.
How many clamps hold this thing in? I thought only one but I bent a pry bar trying to pop it out and I put vise grips on the neck and still can't get it it budge.
I think there should only be one bolt/clamp. Try the penetrating oil trick. Since you haven't ever had it off, there is no telling how long it has been stuck like that.

RE: Distributor stuck
Penetrating oil and a nice long pair of angled slip joint pliers. Put a rag in the jaws to keep from marring the distributor and work it back and forth. Get enough leverage on it and it WILL move. Don't hit it. No good can come of that.
STILL STUCK. I soaked the sucker over night with PB Blaster, tried heating it up and evenput an oil filter wrench around the SOB and it still won't budge. This is crazy. Guess it's another day\night of soaking it. I can't do anything on the car untill I can correct the timing. I hate sitting around when I finally have nice weather to be doing stuff on the car. One of the screws snapped when I was taking off the vacuum advance and I had to drill it out. These engines maybe easy to work on when I'm not spending 85% of the time trying to unfreeze or fix something stuck in place. Sorry for thecomplaining but I'm renamimg this car Murphy's Law.
i had the same problem and what worked best for me was to heat it up with a torch and pry but my motor was also out of the car so that made it a little easier good luck
