Archeological Resotrat
I just learned about archeological resotrations for vintage Mustangs. It seems as though most restorations (even concours)exceed the manufacturers specs and hence, are not equal to those cars that rolled off the assembly line.
For example, there was no clear coat in the early 60's. Almost all the the redone Mustangs are too shiney, too straight... the metal gaps too exact.
I understand that thee are now some folks trying a approximate the exact look of the Mustang as it appeardred 40 years ago.
Yes, one can overwork something... even a classic.
I find this very interesting

oh ya. They will put over spray on the bottom of the car, just like the factory, not paint the top of the suspension and even duplicate the scribal on the parts ident, all messy...
its ok if you want a huge model car that cant be drove or used at all i love driving mine too much to just park it in the garage. if my cars ever on a trailer its broke or stolen
Gotta throw a paper coffee cup under the carpet just to keep things correct. I have to give these cars the most respect of the whole bunch. Glad to see people doing this.
ORIGINAL: Soaring
I like originality, but can't stand concours.
