Default P/S question: pump alignment

Slowly making progress here. I went to test fit the power steering pump (again), and I realized I'm either missing something, or I've lined something up incorrectly. When the pump is in place there is a gap between the bracket that holds the P/S pump and the bracket mounted to the engine. Am I mising a spacer or something? Here is a pic so you can see exactly what I'm talking about:

Power steering pump spacer. Goes between the pump bracket and the engine head. Page 69 of NPD catalog, part no 3D600-xx (xx varies with year).
