Default gastank rust bucket

I have been having problems with my car it is a 67 with a 289. When I am driving as soon as I get to around 20mph the car would stall. I would restart it and then stall again. I figure it was my sending unit. So I bought a new gas tank and sending unit. I drained the gas out of my old one and removed it. After the old tank was out of the car I cut a hole in it. I was able to pour out about a 3" tall pile of rust and there was more rust still in the tank. The person I bought the car from told me the gas tank was "very clean" yeah right. I could not believe how much rust was in the tank. Now with the new tank and sending unit the car runs fine

That'll do it every time. The rust clogs the "sock"(the sending unit filter) preventing fuel from going to the pump.

I'm going to be putting in a fuel cell too Frank. Nothing like a ball of flame coming at ya with a rear end collision, is there? So, why did you select the fuel cell you got? Construction, or money saved?

This is the Fuel cell I got. I did alot of looking around and this is the best they sell to prefit the old classics. They have 22 galon ones but I didn't need that much for my needs. I have already got it just need to put it in when the trunk is all redone.
