The motor mounts were year specific. The 65 and 66 are different for the 289. Not sure about the 260.

Here we go again. 67 engine mounts, frame location for the mounting holes and the insulators are differentthan late 66 and 68 on for small blocks. I assume that the same is true for 6 cylinders applications as well. You could try the universal mounts but I don't know if they will work. See www.mustangsplus.com for price and availability.

yes i know the difference between the 65 mounts with the metal "C"s and the ear type of the later mounts but he said he already had a 260 the hole in the block would be the same so there would be no need to uses a "302" mount i figure he means 289but who knows cause he 70 shouldnt have had a 260 and the 67 style mount thing just pick up a set of the 66,68-70 bracket to be all set and to answer the question about the cougar/falcon/failanes etc v8 mavericks and comets i bleieve are also the same

Hey rmodel65, read what I said. The mounting holes are drilled different on a 67 frame, the brackets are different on a 67 and the insulators are different on a 67.They are not interchangable wit 68 on up. I've made several calls to a couple of parts suppliers complaining about their catalog indicating that 67 is the same as 68.
Yes, early 66 and 64 and 65 V8's use a different type of mounting system than late 66 and 68 up. To further mess up your head, convertible mounts are different yet.

LOL yeah ya'll missed it, the motor mounts are the same very true, but the bracket that mounts to the frame that the motor mount bolts to is diffrent.

1) this is the motor mount------ http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...atKey=EMUSTANG

2) this is the frame bracket------ http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/ite...atKey=EMUSTANG

Motor mounts were the biggest problem for me upgrading from a 260 to a 302.All the parts store guys just sighed and told me there were too many variations in motor mounts for that car that year.they had no idea what to order.I was lucky enough to find an auto wrecker within 15 miles of my house who had a 70 mustang with no motor and all mounts were there, easy to get, right for my application.
The unfortunate part was the guy knew my problem and charged me $90. for them.

am i missing something here why did u need mounts the 260/289/302 etc use the same mounts
the more wierd thing is that a 260 didntcome in a 1970 model[&:]

maybe he meant 250

which is also wierd cause i didnt know that was a v8 in 1970
