Steering clearance trouble
I have a 1967 mustang convertible (early '67). Have repowered (along with many other things) the car to a 351. Have put on Headman headers. The pitman arm when I attempt aleft hand turn is hitting the header. It appears I need about another 1 to 2 inches of clearance to get my full turning capability to the left. I have called Headman and Summit racing. Both say they have never heard of this before and that it should not happen? They are sending me another pair of headers to try in the unlikely event the header was bent incorrectly.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Have not encountered this but you may have to fab a bracket to lower the arm 1-2 inches. If you do, check your geometry. I know that they sell power steering lowering brackets for headers, you may want to check that out. Good luck.

IIRC there was a thread on the MustangSteve site about the pitman arm interference. Seems the solution was to bolt the headers solid to the engine. Insert a steel bar in the collector and "reengineer" the bend in the headers. Remember this is a IIRC so do your own research.
Yep, my fault...I did not read far enough into the item description, just seen "power steering drop bracket". The only other idea that is far fetched...I know they sell drop pitman arms, granted not for mustangs but you may can find one for a ford truck that drops a couple of inches that fits. Just an idea. That is why I will stick with my stock manifolds, too much trouble for a little bit of HP.
