Default 73 mach 1

hey guys, im new here... i was just wondering about a car that I have. Its a 73 mach 1 mustang. It has a 351 cleveland in it. Me and my dad partially restored it and did some performance mods. It has a 750 holley on it, low end cam (i have no idea on the specs), 4v heads, msd ignition, 4.11:1 gears, headers, and a fmx 3 speed tranny.

The question that I have is.. its been to the track and it turned a 14.5 et @ appx. 95 mph. Does that sound like a normal et, or does it sound low?

Also, are there any good performance mods for the cleveland motors besides the normal bolt on stuff?

One last thing, I was wondering if there is a way to search forums so I dont ask already answered questions like an idiot.

Thanks a lot

Not a bad time for a stock Clevo. We have a FAQ section right above your head.. https://mustangforums.com/m_732643/tm.htm
We also have a search engine. If you scroll down from this page you will see it. Just type in the main word and you will get all the past discussion on the topic. Welcome to the classic section of MF.

14.5/95 sounds a little weak. Clevelands like bigger cams. They are very happy with cams in the mid .500" lift (.550-.575) and shorter duration, usually the shortest made for the corresponding lift. A friend of mine has a '73 fastback with a 351/FMX/3.89:1 combo and runs mid/low 13's at over 100mphat 2500' altitude in mid summer heat.

What kind of tires do you run and how much spinning are you getting?

im running just regular ole street tires... it doesnt spin the tires though (at the track at least). it seems to be sluggish from the start and then it really gets cranking after the initial hesitation.me and my dad put in a2000 stall to try and cure the problem, but it still pulls hard even at idle, so i dont know if the torque converter is bad, or if we installed it wrong, or what.

like i said, i have no idea what the specs are on the cam, but it is aftermarket. is your buddy's car that runs "mid 13's" pretty well stock, or does it have a bunch of mods? i was thinkink that my car would be right around the 14 mark. it might just need to be tweaked, i have never really had a professional tune it up, everything i have done to it has been done by myself

Take it to a dyno. It should run better than that.
