crate motor with a C4 trans?
Well upon playing with some hp ratings and stewing over some upgrades, I think i'm just going to buy a crate motor from Jegs.
I had a 289 2V with headers, 4bbl 575 speed demon carb, weiand intake seems like I'll be at 210 hp if I'm lucky. I'm sure I could hit 300 hp with a cam and a head swap but all together I may as well just buy a new motor.
I've got this 67' with the C4 trans..... how much hp can a C4 take? Will it bolt up with a 302c.i. crate motor?
I'm new to ford so I don't know a whole lot.

If you want even more hp why not go with a stroker crate motor http://tandlengines.com/ ,the c4 is a pretty strong auto trans. other here on the forum can tell you more about what things to do to make it even better I have a toploader 4 speed so I haven't done much research on the autos. but the c4 has always been know to be a good trans. The weak link that you may have to worry about may be the rearend some pople here will say the 8" will handle up to 400 hp with no problems, but I'm not a fan seeing how I blow one with a worn out stock 302. You didn't mention what engine you have now if you have an I6 all you need to hook it to a 302 is to change the belhousing. other wise ford put c4's in with 302 for many years.
