So I finally got to drive my Stang for the first time this year. I fixed a couple of tranny leaks and replaced the rear axle seals and put new rear end fluid in the differential.
Now my problem. When I shift into reverse or drive I have to rev the engine before the Tranny will engage into whatever gear i'm in. But once I'm up to speed it doesn't slip at all and runs just fine. I never had this problem last year before I stored her. So I'm thinking it has to be something I just did recently.
Could the new rear end fluid make it slip? I used the Royal Purple Synthetic stuff. Could have I screwed something up when I removed the axles and cracked the differential to drain the fluid? I really don't know whats wrong.

Nah... The rear end fluid has nothing to do with the hesitation. That is steel on steel gearing.
Sounds like it is just taking a second to load it up. Stupid question. Did you check the tranny fluid level?
What does the fluid look like?

Ya double check your tranny fluid. If there is not enough in there it can feel like its not grabbing a gear. Since you just refilled I would suspect that before anything else. Since it can eventually grab a gear when you bring the rpm's up, you're probably short by maybe a quart.

Damn its cold out for April! 20* weather + Carbueration = no start. Found that out last night at 1am when leaving my friends house. Right after I posted this thread I thought to myself, "Did you ever put in more tranny fluid after you fixed those leaks? Nope you didn't dumbass." I added about 3/4 fluid and she drives perfect now! I even left a lil rubber at the top of the driveway! Pegleg burnouts FTL. I guess I was so excited to drive it last night that I forgot about the fluid level.
Hahaha, sometimes it seems like it can take forever for those c4's to fill up. I have a deep pan on mine it chugs fluid like beers. Glad to hear its smokin tires again.
EDIT: smokin tire...hahah you need to get a posi in that sucker[8D]
