ok guys, im thinking about going serpantine on the rebuild. im pretty sure i remember hearing the new pumps were reverse rotation so heres a couple questions for ya....

a) are they the same length?
b) can i use a standard rotation pump on the serpantine belt setup or will it turn the wrong way ( have a aluminum hi performance pump, wanna reuse if possible)
c) will an earlier alternator psyhically bolt up? i'd like to use the one i have and just sway the pulley. (i have a lifetime warranty autozoner and dont wanna have to buy a new one if possible)

any help here would be greatly appreciated. would i be better off buying a aftermarket pulley setup? i would think that gets expensive.

I do know that the newer ones are reverse rotation so the blades on the impeller are pitched the opposite way.You would have to change the pumps for the serp. set up...Cant be of much help on other stuff.

 

Just get the accessories off of a new 5.0. Or, you can go for a March system and keep your standard rotation pump...but it'll be a bit more expensive.

 

well the thought was to grab accessories of a 5.0 but like i said i have a better water pump which i dont wanna have to replace and a lifetime warranty alternator (which i JUST replaced with a new one) so i dont wanna just toss that aside either. maybe with what it would cost to upgrade the 5.0 stuff the march pulleys are worth it?!?!?! does anyone have experience with these? maybe i can find a used set.
