Default sodablasting ???

Has anyone had their ride sodablasted? I just attended a car show in SC where they had a car down to all metal. The guy would domy entire coupe for about $500. He said once its down to pair metal she has a good 48 hours to prep for paint before rust can show up.

Is this a good way to strip all your paint down? Is the price good? any CONS to sodablasting?

I have been thinking of getting a new paint job and need to find a good way that wont break my bank,
take her down to metal or sand the rough spots out and repaint??

Thanks for any input.

It's a great price. I am looking for the best and cheapest solution as well to remove all of the paint and rust. The only thing about soda blasting that I have heard is that you have to be certain to remove all of the soda (washing well) or the soda itself can begin corrosion. Other than that, if I found a comparable price like that in the Houston area, I would jump all over it.

Had my '69 sodablasted and was not happy. The soda removed the paint, but left all thebondo and rust. After getting it back from the soda blaster, Ihad to take it over and have it media blasted. It may have been the blaster I used, but 4my2cents, chemical diping is the best way to get rid of everything.

Yeah, I would agree that chemical dipping is the most thorough way to remove rust and paint but it also has a big drawback. That is all of the paint/primer is removed, even from the places you can't get to easily such as body panel stiffeners and inside the cowl, etc. So, you run the risk of rust in those areas.

Forget soda blasting and just use good old black beauty slag. Its how you use the blaster that matters. Hold it in one place and you'll warp or eat a hole through the metal. For $500 you can buy a nice pressurized tank and 50 pounds of slag and still have $125 left over. Lay down some sheet plastic in the driveway, and roll the car on it. Then blast away. Its fun as well. Then roll it back in to the garage and prep the car for primer.
