oh oh, I might be able to get close...I shipped an assembled, used 302 for an ebay salea while ago.It was 90% assembled (shipped dry), intake manifold, carb, flywheel (no clutch assembly), front accessories, and I think the freight company weighed it in at ~490lbs.

A stock 289 cast iron motor with manifolds weighed about 455. Go from there.

Thanks guys. This guy would not do anything to help me. I asked him in the begining if he could take it to a freight company and he said that I needed to take care of everything. If he were to take it, I'd save probably $350. Now that the crate is built the father said it can't be lifted easily.

what a tool.
I used overnite freight shipping services and they were a good deal. Although I just googled them and it looks like they got bought up by UPS freight.

Yep they were bought by UPS Freight. Them and lots of others. Roadway Express is usually competative.

Have you tried finding a moving company that might pick this up and prepare it for freight? If there are some in or close to the town of origin, you might be able to call around and find someone to do this for a fair price. The price should vary from company to company, possibly a lot.
