paint job!?!?! PLZ HELP
Hi I'm new to classic cars, but have done some moderate work on late model cars, i'm working on restoring my 1967 mustang. It is in good condition with very little rust besides some in the wheel wells, the problem is is that the paint is starting to become very thin and starting to fade. So my question is how much would a paint job cost with minimal body work on a classic car like this. I'm looking towords a dark blue. Thanks
all depends where u go, and what paint they use, there are sum paint out there that sucks, u'll being going back to the paint shop within 6 months or so, i had that problem with my 69 but i got a good paint job from sum one else. over all it depends on what shop u go to, if u want a very clean paint job under a budget i would say around 1'g or more maybe not sure, i would do some research on what kind of paints are there, or ask what they use and see there work or if u have connections the better just make sure they do it right u know. u dont want a mest up paint job where ur on the freeyway and all of sudden u see ur paint job flying to pieces lol
Thanks, My big problem is is that i live in a semi- small town with not such a great variety of paint shops. But I'm thinking about taking it to a guy who owns a classic car repair & paint shop out of town. I'm still debuting between a deep blue, or something along the lines of a cherry red. What do you guys think?[&:]
yeah i would go to the lil shops, like when i took mine, my car was painted at a custom hot rod, auto body and paint place, and they guy gave me a good paint, i think it would be best just to go with the lil shops that do or specializes in hot rods i mean cus u know they do great paint jobs. now the color i chose silver cuz i wanted to stand out, red is pretty good so is the dark blue, i think i would go with a smokey black, or tuxedo black color, well i hope u get a good paint job

If you don't take the old paint off down to bare metal, you will not see the rust that is typically around the lower front portion of the doors, and the rear quarter panels. The color doesn't matter. That's a personal choice, just get rid of the rust by adding new steel before it is primed and painted. Add clear coat on the top of the color.
