well i have about finished the front clip of the car. I think once I color sand this last coat and then polish it it should look pretty darn good. I painted the two fenders and hood only.

lookin pretty good man. im almost done with my whole car. im thinking maybe one or two more coats, a nice wetsand and some polishing and it should be done. one thing that suprised me though is how many coats its taken me to get full coverage. all of the little bondo spots and stuff went away with my last coat and i think ive done something like 15 or 16 coats. maybe im putting it on too thin or something but its looking really nice so i guess its all good. ive gotten a job this summer painting one of my dad's friend's old ford truck for him so i guess my work must be pretty good. but anyways just giving the heads up to anyone who wants to do this and letting you know its probably going to take a lot more coats than you planned.

Hood came out alrite, i just cant imagine wetsanding the entire car in the street, pissing off my parents, then painting it in the garage over and over. So maaco gave me a quote of $1,600. I'm prolly goin that route.

hope you plan on spending that 1600 every three months ...thats what you are in for if you use Maaco.I have seen some really bad paint jobs from Maaco and heard even worse horror stories

That's allI did with my first mustang. Blew the engine and bought an old beat up ford LTD and swapped the engine in front of the house with a come along, some friends and a lot of beers. Needles to say, neitherthe parents or the neighbors were too happy. However, some were impressed with the ingenuity involved with the come along and the limb of the maple tree in the front yard.

Looks really good, and I swear it looks as good as mine. I have been doing my parts individually and have both doors finished except for wax. I used the Turtle wax polish first, then went with a Meguir's glazing (NAPA Autoparts) to get a little more shine.

I really pleased with the results and hopefully can mount the fenders again over the next week. Then I start on the rest of the car from the doors back and the roof. I'll try to post pics this weekend.
