Default Ignition Help

Well my first question is, i have decided to convert from points to electric ignition. I have a 302 engine, and was wondering what kind of distrubter i should get?? When it comes to ignition, im very lost. Also my car has no ignition system on it. No coil, no nothing. What all do i need to get the ignition complete i.e. Coil?Module?Resistor? seems to be some many things out there. Im kinda going for a weekend driver with abit of performance. if that helps.

thanks fellas[/align]

I prefer an electronic ignition, and I don't like an external "box".and I also like to be able to get repair parts at any parts store. This way, if the ignition fails, I am not down for days waiting for parts.

All of this leads me torecomend somthing that is notpopular with many here, noris it always a viable solutionfor everyone, I prefer the HEI based systems with the coil in the cap.

It is a large distributor, and I have seen someone post that their HEI would not fit with their stock air cleaner, but I bought it none the less, I wont be using a stock air cleaner.

This setup is not only effective and relible, it ischeap up front, and cheap down the road, (replacement components are dirt cheap), but it is big, I'm tellin you it's BIG.

What are you looking to spend? You can end up with a complete system like a ProComp ready-to-run dizzy for $95 and a coil for another $25 or so for a coild or an MSD 6AL, billet distributor and coil for $500. Pick yourself up some Ford Racing wires from Summit for around $50 and you're good to go. Another option is the Ford Duraspark system which works well but won't be as easy to purchase and install off-the-shelf as the other options.

Ditto Ford racing wires. I've got MSD Ready to Run and Pertonixlaster coil (chrome of course) and very happy with set up.

Yeah, there are lots of choices out there. If you just want a daily driver and cruiser, then the stock coil, stock plug wires, stock distributorand the Pertronix module is all you need. http://www.pertronix.com
