Default oil for 3 speed trans

What oil do I use in the 3-speed non-synchro trans in my 65 200 ci Mustang? I have the factory shop manual, but it lists only a Ford PN, which does not say what type of oil in plain English. 90W? Thanks a lot.

Use 90 weight available from most auto stores. I don't recomend using anything heavier like 140.

I had the old 90 weight oil drained from my 3 speed manual, and put in 75W90 synthetic gear oil. Man, did it make a difference in ease of shifting.

+1 on the synthetic. 75w-90 or 80w-90 would be good.
