Take your old battery in as a core and ask for an Interstate brand that is suited for your I6 engine. Continental also makes a great battery.

Bang for the buck, NAPA sells a great battery.

STAY AWAY FROM THE OPTIMA RED TOP!!!

Absolute JUNK!!

My car sits for a month and it is DEAD!! Won't take a charge. DEAD!!

This has already happened twice and now it is looking like my 2nd replacement (third overall) is dead too.

JUNK JUNK JUNK!!!

Yeah, the Optima red tops are supposed to be the cat's meow because you don't have to maintain them. With my Interstate, I have never added any water in 10 years and she spins my 289 over very fast still today. Get one with the maximum cranking amps you can afford. If you get the Interstate Mega Tron Plus you will be set for many, many years. Also get the one without the side posts because if you hook it up correctly, the positive side post will ground out on the radiator support bracket.

Sounds like you have a short in your electrical system somewhere. I bet it happens with any other battery in your car. My red top has been sitting in my Mustang for the past 8 months without any activity and I used it to jump my Falcon without starting the Mustang up, all battery. It Still reads above 12v. I used to have battery drain issues until I completely rewired my car. Just my 2 cents.

Really don't think so. The only draw I have is my clock.I didn't have even that on this last time. I had the battery disconnected completely. Dead.

Never had this problem until the Red Optima. I know a couple of other guys at the car club who have run into the same problem.

Even if it draws it down to nothing, I should be able to recharge it.

Suffice it to say, I have purchased my last Optima.
