Default Soda Blasting

Me again, I am very curious about soda blasting, how much does a professional soda blasting job cost? If I bought one of these $300.00 portable soda blasters, could I do the job in my driveway or do you need a booth? Any other info is welcome, I know NOTHING about the subject. Thanks.

you could do it at home but you would need some sort of enclosure so in the garage and draping plastic all around would work.Remember though you are spraying a small material in the air so any thing that is not covered will have your spraying media all over it.I sand blasted my door jams and certain areas and there is still sand coming out from under dash and between fenders and ive blown and vaccumed them out so many times...good luck though it gives good results.

Soda and sand are different. Can you give me a link on the 300.00 soda blaster and where to find soda media? On the sand, it seems its always there. I blew out sand for hours with the car upside down, sideways and right side up, and I still am finding it. The next one I plan touse soda. I've seen cost figures from 650 to 1200 floating around on some of the sites.

Here's one for $249; I wonder how well that would work andhow efficient it would be?

I noticed that none of them said they removed rust. I'll just assume that it's not dritty enough to do so. But if I can repaint my '66 with that little guy, I will be satisfied.

Here's some video. First one looks good, second one so-so.

just went to a show were a guy advertising his soda blasting said it would not take off rust or body filler, you would have to address those another way

It's Arm-n-Hammer baking soda, not fizzy stuff you drink. Yeah, it works well on taking off paint, but not other things like seam seal. That's the beauty of it. It doesn't get the metal so hot that it warps it. You will either need to be way out in the country where nobody cares if paint flakes are flying in the air, or do it in your garage then have a big clean-up job later.
Do a search to find the 300 buck machine and the source for the soda media that I posted yesterday.

I use a media blasting shop for the whole car and a booth with glass beads for what ever will fit in the booth. A 33 gallon plastic trash bag extends my booth to fit a sway bar.
