Default steering problems

When I got this car I didnt know what was wrong with it, I'll be going to get a safety soon because I have done everything that a safety requires.

I started the car today to test drive it for my very 1st time. I have noticed that the steering is pretty tuff to steer/turn when I crank the wheel in any direction its hard to turn and I get a soft easy turn every say 1/2 a turn.
I do not think its the original engine in this car... right now its a 302 5 speed 1978 mustang ||
maybe they didnt get to far as to adjust the steering for the new engine?
what do you think could be wrong and what I should do.

you're going to have to tell us more about it. What kind of car, motor, headers or not, etc etc...

Have you looked at it and observed anything strange while turning it?
Have you jacked it up and turned the wheel with the tires up?

Sorry... I thought you were saying you had a 78 MII 302 motor in some other car. It sounds like there is a bind in the rag joint. Jack it up...both wheels off the ground and turn the wheels back and forth while watching the column attach point to the steering box. See if it's binding there
