Do you have a carburetor with a lot less CFM than that 750? If so, then stick it on there and see if that smooths it out. That 750 is for a highly modded engine, and you may be experiencing wash down.

Its got a torquer II intake manifold on it, and flowtech headers---its not 100% stock---but that doesnt mean i should be running a 750 on it either--it was my least expensive option at the time(free)---i am running an electric fuel pump which flows 140gph at 14 psi--

--which i regulate down to about 6.5 psi at idle---i think i may just get a 1 inch spacer for the weekend and see how it runs--im not so concerned with wide open throttle as i am with knowing i can idle on the way home--sounds silly i know...

Hey Partner,
I agree with a previous writer, that carb is a little big! But, that being stated, have you check the AFR readings for Idle, mid-range etc? Also, timing and tuning byvacuum readings will help, as well. The fuel might be heating up a little bit, without a spacer there, but generally, electric fuel pumps will cure vapor lock.
Check the AFR readings, I say.
Good luck there!

while 6.5psi may be great at lower RPM before it warms up it could also be starving out the carb at higher RPM and after warm up. Theproblem is that too big of a carb leaves you in a catch-22. If you bump the pressure up you'll probably run rich at idle but fine at WOT (essentially the opposite of what you have now). If you have the spacer try it out. If you have a smaller carb, try it out as well like Soaring suggested.

I think im gonna get a 1" spacer tomorrow, they are cheap. I dont have O2 sensors hooked up so Im not sure how else to check the AFR. Ill turn the pressure up a lil bit, ill try 7psi. Could the float height have an adverse affect on my situation???
