Hipo 289 HELP
Look at the 5th digit of your VIN. If it is a K, then you have a hipo engine. Here is how you identify a K code engine.

Are you positive it is a K code engine? If it is, then pull that engine and store it or sell it to a person looking to restore an original K code car. Get yourself a 302 and build away. Please don't destroy a K code engine.

Soaring...Here is the thing..I checked the vin and originally it was a C code. Since i bout it at a young age (15) i was ready to buy a vounerable and had no previous knowledge of classic cars really and noone around to give me any advise.I have gotten screwed over muiltiple times which has cost me alot of money for very little show. The guy that sold this to me said it was a HIPO and it even said HIPO 289 in the ad in the trader. So i dont know if this guy screwed me over or if it is a hipo swaped in. The reason i am thinking it is one is because the car has pretty good power more than a C code i assume. Also it was set up for drag racing so i dont see why he would drag race a C code but again i could be wrong? I looked at your site to tell the different ways if it is a K code and to be honestI dont know what half of that means ha. But here are some pictures if anyone can tell me anything about this engine. Pretty much all i no is that it has a Edelbrock performer 289 intake and a 4 barrel edelbrock carb with edelbrock valve covers. The headers are short and rusted so they look original but not sure what they are. Sorry for the long post..i just need help..Thanks guys and here are some pictures so maybe you guys can tell?
