Default Look what I just got.

Just brought home a 1964 289. I am all smiles, everytime I went by the garage door last night I had to peek in to take a look. I still can't believe it's really mine. Here are some pictures.

I want to uprade the exhust, add a new carb, new headers and put in better suspension. Do any of you have some recomendations.

what a beautiful car! can i have your transmission[8D] yeah, if youre going to upgrade the carb, upgrade the intake too! edelbrock performer rpm airgap is the best one out for mildly modded 289s imo. then get some long tubes, ive heard only good things about hookers (the pipes, not the other ones[8D]) then a holley 4 barrel, i use a 650 cfm, but people say 600 is plenty. then some gears, and youll have a quick ride!! i dunno about suspension, i'll leave that up to some more knowledgable memebers! i LOVE ur car!

ffirst, I'd like to say that you have an absolutely beautiful car. I love that color, my s197 is that red, and those are the wheels I was gonna put on my old 69er. It looks in great condition. I'll be honest, if you are someone who plans to keep this car as a dd, there's plenty to do, but if you want it as what I call a Saturday night car for the car shows, then you may want to leave it as is and just do some tune up work.

If you want to mod it, the T-5 swap is always good. I'd say for a carb, dont go bigger than i think 600cfm. For brands, its your pref, as a warning, dont ask anyone here, you'll never hear the end of it...if you want a power machine, you can go even further and add a cam and roller rockers. One of the easiest mods is probably to replace the big fat filter housing with a K&N Xstream setup. Another easy and good idea is to swap out the points on the dizzy for a Petronix ignitor or swap the whole dizzy for an HEI setup. I got a new Procomp one from a local parts dealer on eBay for about 100. Anyway, good luckand enjoy.

Beautiful Car! I hardly noticed the wheels...

Take a look at my website below... for some ideas on possible mods.

Thanks for the compliments,

I do want to use it as a daily driver for about a year, until I can buy those new four-door Jeep Wranglers, then I am going to keep the Mustang as a Sunday driver. This Mustang was really a spur of the moment purchase, two weeks ago I decided to sell my 2002 Chevy Silverado, and get something fun. I work only about 2 miles from home, and since I wasn't towing a boat anymore I didn't need the truck.

Anyway, I don't want to make so many mods to take away from the originality of the car, not that many of the parts are original to the car, but I like the classic look, but I want a deeper sound to the exhust, and a little bit more horse power.

I will look into those parts, I will have to do research since I am fairly new to motor work and such. I am will ing to learn as much as possible though. I know I need to stiffen up the susspension, the tires are rubbing against the fenders on the driver side. (probably my bigg A$$).

Were is the best place to shop for Mustang parts, I know of Mustangs Unlimited and Mustangs Plus, is there another place you all reccomend?

Nice looking ride. Do you mind telling us how much you paid for it and where do you live. We like to keep up with the selling prices on these babies.

I don't mind, I had a hard time pricing the mustangs out, I would like to know if I got a good deal or not. To be honest it wouldn't really matter to me, I love the car, and I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off. I must of looked at about ten different ones. I paid 10,000 and live in central California.

The steering wheel lock is "The Club" it is super easy to put on. As far as how effective it is, probably not that effective, it makes me feel better though. The old owner had it on, it came with the car.
